Black Rocks
Black Rocks is an outcrop of gritstone with expansive views over Cromford and surrounding areas. The area is popular with climbers and walkers alike. The rocks can be reached from the High Peak Trail or by a short, but steep path, from the car park.
Cromford Canal
Cromford Canal was once a working waterway. Now, it is a rich countryside walk teeming with wildlife such as water voles, grass snakes and dragonflies. . There is a café at Cromford Wharf and refreshments at High Peak Junction. The tow path is accessible for pushchairs and wheelchair users. A restored narrow boat is run on scheduled trips through the year by the Friends of Cromford Canal.
Gulliver’s Kingdom
Gulliver's Kingdom is a family theme park aimed at children aged 3 - 13 in the adjacent village of Matlock Bath. A variety of rides and entertainment with spectacular views over the Derwent Valley.
Matlock Bath Aquarium and Exhibitions
Matlock Bath aquarium is home to over 50 different species of fish as well as the only remaining site of a ‘petrifying well’ in Matlock Bath. The aquarium also hosts one of the largest public displays of Holograms in Europe.
The National Stone Centre
The National Stone Centre is a 40-acre site of natural landscape to explore. Open all year round and free to access.
Activities for the family include geo-trails to find fossils, gem-panning and a children's playground.
Cromford Mill
Visit the birthplace of the modern factory system. Cromford mill is an 18th century water-powered cotton mill offering guided tours, events and a visitor centre with shops and cafes
Peak District Mining Museum
Discover the life of a Derbyshire lead miner at The Peak District Lead Mining Museum. A family attraction for all ages where you can investigate the equipment the miners used to extract lead from the ground, crawl through tunnels, visit a real mine and pan for minerals.
