George Orwell: The Complete Poetry

07/11/2015 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

A signing and talk by Dione Venables. Dione Venables earlier edited her cousin Jacintha Buddicom’s ‘Eric And Us’, about her family’s relationship with the young Eric Blair who became George Orwell. Ms Venables was a founder of the Orwell Society.

Not only will you be able to ask editor Dione Venables to sign your copy of The Complete Poetry; we have obtained copies of the rare ‘Eric and Us’ (Findlay Publishers), Jacintha Buddicom’s memoir of growing up with Eric Blair (the young George Orwell). Second hand copies are now on sale elsewhere at £45.00, but our ‘as new’ copies will be on sale at only £14.99. The Finlay Press edition includes Dione Venables’ post-script, describing the life of Jacintha Buddicom that she felt she could not tell.

The event will include a poetry reading by Quentin Kopp (son of George Orwell’s commander in Spain) and a display of George Orwell rarities.

The book signing starts at 7.30 p.m. Our cafe will stay open from 6.00 to serve coffee, tea and fruit juice to early arrivals.
